I was introduced to THE braBAG & THE pantyPAK by my friends at The Girls Bra Shop located in Rothesay, NB Canada. As a frequent traveller and lover of all things organized they thought I would find this product to be not only pretty but functional.

These very girlie looking products are for packing your wardrobe foundation pieces. You know the delicates that you launder so carefully and then when you travel they get thrown in a suitcase with everything including your dirty shoes. Some people might even suggest packing these delicates in your shoes to save space...can we say yuck! Well not anymore.

THE pantyPAK

Let’s start with the panties. This two sided zippered garment holder has a side for the clean ones and then a side for, as it says, ‘not so clean’ ones. I loved this tagging that leaves nothing to guesswork. You know what that means...forgetting which compartment you have the dirties in can be somewhat stressful. This is a great product feature for sure.

Capacity is also important for travellers these days. With increased baggage costs and weight restrictions, packing efficiently is the key to travel. On average for a one week vacation you would want at least seven pairs of undies or even more if you are travelling to a hot climate and frequent changes are required. We had some fun with this and the Gals from The Girls Bra Shop challenged me on how many pairs of panties would fit in this handy travel gadget. They got six pairs in the clean side and six pairs in the unclean side and a bottle of forever new detergent in the middle. Great to have if you don’t mind doing a bit of laundry while on vacation.  I tried a different strategy and packed for the vacation on the clean side without adding the detergent...sorry no laundry chores while I am on vacation. I was able to fit; three cotton type, two thongs and three nylon type. I was happy with this amount and if I had all nylon ones I would have been able to get at least 10 pairs in.       

          

Another great option with this pantyPAK would be the carry handles that upon first observation is just another handle. However for those of us that like to dress after showering the pantyPAK can be hung on the doorknob or on the hook on the back of the bathroom door. Making this added feature very useful.   

    

THE braBAG

The braBAG comes in two convenient sizes. I was glad to hear that because I got the product to test and was disappointed when my ample Brazziere did not fit the first one.  The braBAG BUXOM is perfect us curvy gals...yahoo a company that makes products for ‘real girls’.

A foundation garment like the bra is the staple of a great wardrobe. They put everything in place and make you look great, I might add, the right bra can also make you look slimmer. These garments are an investment and a delicate underwire could be damaged quite easily if left loose in a cramped and tightly packed suitcase. This hard sided over the shoulder boulder holder gadget is perfect for the job. Not only is it pretty, it is sturdy and can handle the crushing abuse at the hands of the airport baggage handlers.

I would normally pack three-four bras for an average trip and I was able to get this many in and the snaps closed tightly.

Always one for options I was able to pack some socks in the cup part of the bras so this gadget also got a thumbs up.

• Seek the advice of a professional sales assistant, such as one of our fitters at The Girls Bra Shop.  Our knowledge of lingerie and women’s shapes and sizes will definitely help you select the correct garment for your loved one.  

• Do your research – know her size.  Research says that most men think their wife or girlfriend is a size 34B.  Since most women do not fit into the average category, it is best to check out her underwear drawer and write down her size.

• Buy quality. Good lingerie is like jewelry – you get what you pay for.  Cheap lingerie will show signs of aging with minimal wear and washing.

• Consider buying three matching panties for each bra.  Panties are washed daily, while bras can be worn several times before washing.

• Avoid anything with the words “Control”, “Reducing”, etc.  You don’t want to send the wrong message.

• Think about her color preference.   

• Pajamas, nightgowns, and slippers are great options!

• If the store offers to wrap your purchase, take them up on the offer.  You want this gift to be perfect from start to end.

• Keep the receipt. Because lingerie is intimate, not all items can be returned. Make sure you know the store's return policy before buying. Just in case. 

• When all else fails, a gift card fits every woman perfectly.

Storage Wars

How do you store your bras? When you visit The Girls you will hear our fitters go over the care and keeping of your delicates: Don’t fold or invert your padded bras; lay them flat; always hand wash and hang to dry.

This will shorten the life of the bra

If you are like me you have a good collection of bras and it can be a challenge to store them all neatly in a tiny drawer. So here are a few ideas that may help you out.

If you have padded bras, than you need to take extra special in storing them.

Remember: Turning one cup inside out and folding it inside the other cup is a huge mistake many women make.

Try folding one pad inside out and you will feel the creases forming instantly. By storing the bra this way the creases will stay permanently and show through your clothing.

Lengthen the life of your bras by stacking them.

If you are going to store the padded bras in a drawer, stack them one on top of the other/ or one in front of the other allowing them to lay flat and not bend. Another option is to hang them. When I moved into my home several years ago, the previous owner had a shoe rack anchored to the inside wall of my closet. I never really used it for my shoes so one day I hung a bra there to dry. Voila, it became my new bra rack.

Storing lace and wireless bras are much easier, but still take care. You want to lay them neatly in the drawer, folded in half, one on top of the other or one in front of the other. If they are just tossed in the drawer you could risk twisting the wires and damaging you bras.

Traveling? The lace bras can be neatly stacked in your suitcase no problem. We have recommended to our clients that for travel you may have to fold over that padded bra just til you get to your destination but once there, unpack the padded bras and lay them flat. If you are creative with your packing you can always lay them flat and stuff the cups with softies like your socks and undies.

Brag storage case

Better yet, pick up a Brag bra bag and store your bras in style. The Brag is a hardcover case which store 2 -3 padded bras. It’s luggage for your lingerie. This makes a great gift idea too.

We have said it before that bras are the foundation of your wardrobe. Not only do they affect how you look but also how you feel each day. You’ve taken the time and money to invest in a proper fit, so it only makes sense you would want your investment to last as long as possible. 

 

Remember, the lifetime of a bra is about 6 – 12 months depending on how often. A little extra care and keeping of your bras can extend their life to twice as long.

Back To School Special

It's that time of year again. The air is crisp. The leaves are starting to turn and fall colours fill the clothing stores. Being a country girl, it was a big deal going Back To School shopping. Mom would pile us in the car and we would head to the city.
